Ronny Diaz Cruz

I was born on July 1, 1977 in the city of Caguas, Puerto Rico. I studied international cuisine at the Instituto de Educación Universal in Caguas, PR from 1995-1996.  During my studies I realized that baking was my passion. I did my internship at the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, PR under the supervision of chefs Mario Ferro and Israel Calderón. Chef Mario Ferro gave me the opportunity to work full-time after completing my internship. I was a kitchen assistant for five years until I became the Pastry Cook 1 in 2001. Since theh I have dedicated myself to working hard, learn all I can, and be the best in Baking. Participation in different events and competitions helped me demonstrate my talent and knowledge. It has also helped me improve my faults and perfect what is already good. My faith in God and the support of my family give me the strength to continue to do what I love and achieve the goals I have worked so hard for. Now I can say that I have achieved what I longed for: represent my island of Puerto Rico at no better place than the 2016 PR Culinary Team. My long-term goals are to expand my knowledge with studies in Molecular Baking, traditional chocolate-making, sugars, etc. I believe baking and pastry is an art with no limits to creativity.
